OpenSSL Generate 4096-bit Certificate (Public/Private Key Encryption) with SHA256 Fingerprint
Ssh-keygen -t rsa -b 4096 -C 'RSA 4096 bit Keys' Generate an DSA SSH keypair with a 2048 bit private key. Ssh-keygen -t dsa -b 1024 -C 'DSA 1024 bit Keys' Generate an ECDSA SSH keypair with a 521 bit private key. Ssh-keygen -t ecdsa -b 521 -C 'ECDSA 521 bit Keys' Generate an ed25519 SSH keypair- this is a new algorithm added in OpenSSH. May 29, 2016 The most effective and fastest way is to use command line tools: codeopenssl genrsa -out mykey.pem 4096 openssl rsa -in mykey.pem -pubout mykey.pub /codeIt’ll generate RSA key pair in code mykey.pem/code and code mykey.pub/code. Generate a PGP key with more than 4096 bits? With 4096-bit RSA keys. Usual algorithms are cubic, so this scales to about 5 signatures or decrypt per second at. Generating a 4096-bit RSA key is way slower than 2048-bit using Jsch. I need to create public and private RSA keys for a client/server application, and I'm using the JSch library to do so. I've been generating 4096-bit keys up until now, as I'd like to have the best security possible.

Rsa 4096 Bit
# Generate Private Key and Certificate using RSA 256 encryption (4096-bit key) |
openssl req -x509 -newkey rsa:4096 -keyout privatekey.pem -out certificate.pem -days 365 |
# Alternatively, setting the '-newkey' parameter to 'rsa:2048' will generate a 2048-bit key. |
# Generate PKCS#12 (P12) file for cert; combines both key and certificate together |
openssl pkcs12 -export -inkey privatekey.pem -in certificate.pem -out cert.pfx |
# Generate SHA256 Fingerprint for Certificate and export to a file |
openssl x509 -noout -fingerprint -sha256 -inform pem -in certificate.pem >> fingerprint.txt |
# Generate SHA1 Fingerprint for Certificate and export to a file |
#openssl x509 -noout -fingerprint -sha1 -inform pem -in certificate.pem >> fingerprint.txt |
# FYI, it's best practice to use SHA256 instead of SHA1 for better security, but this shows how to do it if you REALLY need to. |
